Mel’s Baptism

Mel got baptised! After getting sick the first time, and being stuck at home due to a typhoon the second time, Mel was finally able to get baptised in the beginning of September. Thank you for all of those who prayed that it would happen this time. I guess sometimes the third time is the charm.

I first met Mel at our English outreach, she was looking for somewhere to practice English, and discovered that we are also a church, which was great because she was also looking for a church.

Mel’s journey with God begins in the Philippines where she was born, she grew up in a Catholic family, but didn’t have a real faith in God until a few years ago she got really sick and ended up in hosptial. The doctors misdiagnosed her, and due to this she nearly died, in her moment of desperation she cried out to God, and the doctors finally figured out that she had dengue fever, and were able to give her the right medicine. In this moment she realised that God is real.

Shortly after this she moved to Taiwan to work in a factory, but was fired after some time for not working fast enough. She really loved Taiwan though and was devasted when she had to move back. She prayed to God and asked for an opportunity to come back to Taiwan. Shortly after the Taiwan goverment said it would start hiring Filipino qualified teachers to come and teach in Taiwan. Mel is a qualified teacher and so she was able to get a job and come back to Taiwan. This blessing she attributes to God.

She had wanted to get baptised for a while, but never had the opportunity until she started coming to Aroma. We are glad that we could be a part of this journey for her.

Her faith has continued to grow as she attends bible study, both in my small group, and with an American who hosts a women’s small group once a month in person when they come to Taiwan for 3 months a year with her husband as part of their retirement life, and online when they are back in the states.

My small group co-leader Carol was able to help baptise Mel, which I thought was great, we want to train and equip locals and the next generation of leaders here in our church, so that they come along side us as reinforements and help to grow the kingdom of God together.

Prayer Requests.

  • Please pray that Mel continues to grow in her relationship with God.

  • Please pray for her Taiwanese husband to come to the LORD.

  • Please pray for more women leaders to rise up in our church.

Thank you for reading, your support and praying along side us.
