By the grace of God we have been allowed to teach a club class at a local junior high school in Taipei Taiwan.

This class is 7 Friday's a semester for 2 hours each time and our theme is "How to become a successful YouTuber."

Although I am not a successful YouTuber, I have made a couple of videos in my past. So I am leading this club for this semester.

It has it's challenges as in junior high schools in Taiwan the students have the longest school days in the world, from 7:30am to 4pm (sometimes 5pm if they opt to do the 8th period class from 4pm to 5pm). So they are very tired and not very motivated to learn, therefore we have to make it as fun and interesting as possible.

We also want to use this opportunity to share the gospel with them, so every week we share a scripture with them and somehow relate it to the lesson, for example, when we taught them about lighting, we showed them John 8:12 "12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” and talked about how Jesus can be a light in our life. Also at Easter time, I took a full 30 minutes to share the gospel with them, and then played a review game to see how much they understood.

Teaching about religion is a touchy subject in public schools in Taiwan, so we have to be careful to be subtle about what we teach, the blessing is that they also desire to have foreigners come and teach as this makes the school look better to potential new students, even though it's a public school, they all want to improve their image and rating.

We also cooperate with a local church which is close by the school (our church is about 30-40 minutes away by public transport). The last Friday of the semester we took the students to the church to eat popcorn and watch the videos that they have made so that they can know where the church is and make connections with the members there, and if they are curious to know more about God, then they know where to go. We also have a church member from this church serve with us every lesson.

Please pray:

Please pray that God will open the hearts and minds of these students to be receptive to the gospel, and that the Holy Spirit would give us wisdom and words to say to help share the gospel.
